Collagen Induction Therapy

What is microneedling?
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a safe and effective esthetic method used to address a variety of skin issues. Multiple sterile needles puncture into the top layers of the dermis stimulating the skin to produce its own collagen as well as other healing factors. The stimulation assists in tissue regeneration effectively resurfacing the upper cellular layers of the skin.

One of the biggest complaints as we age is due to our skin losing the ability to produce collagen. Collagen is responsible for the skin’s youthful look and radiance. With the decline of collagen the skin losses its elasticity, smooth texture and firmness leading to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Collagen is also lost to injuries, such as acne scarring, stretch marks, or other scars.
Microneedling offers an advanced anti-aging treatment that aids the skin to use its natural healing processes significantly correcting and slowing down problems seen with aging and skin injuries.

The post-treatment recovery is quick with little to no downtime and clinical results are excellent.

Who can benefit from microneedling?

Studies demonstrate microneedling can be useful and extremely effective in the treatment of:

  • Scars

  • Surgical scars

  • Acne scars

  • Melasma

  • Photodamage

  • Enlarged Pores

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Overall skin rejuvenation

  • Hyperhidrosis

  • Alopecia

How many treatments are needed to see results?

Like most treatments, microneedling is not a quick fix, as it involves the growth and turnover of new skin cells. Many do see positive changes in their skin after one treatment, but skin conditions and concerns are unique to each client and it can take several sessions to see the best possible results.

Microneedling is a valuable alternative to other more invasive procedures such as surgery, deep chemical

peeling and laser skin resurfacing.

Treatment plans are discussed with you either during your initial appointment or at consultation.

A general recommendation to see improvement in overall skin quality is about 6 sessions over 4-6 weeks apart. Then a follow up regimen of one treatment every 3-4 months is recommended to maintain results. Results will vary from person to person.

What can I expect during the treatment?

Skin is prepped with and gentle, hydrating chamomile cleanser. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area prior to the microneedling for 20 minutes. After a final cleanse, a 12-prong needle is used gently over treatment area. Bleeding is minimal. A topical application of amino acids and hyaluronic acid are then used to penetrate down into the microchannels created with the tiny microneedling puntures. Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate skin also reducing the appearance of wrinkles, also improving tone and texture. Finally, a soothing mask is applied to calm and balances the skin post treatment.
